Jamie Littler
On Wednesday 25th September, Years 4-6 were visited by the talented Jamie Littler, who was promoting the second book in his Arkspire series. Jamie is an illustrator first and you can see his drawings throughout his books. He explained to the children how when he was younger, drawing was his passion and through that, he would tell stories. Jamie has been the illustrator for many authors including Danny Wallace, Enid Blyton, Philip Ardagh, Phil Earle, Timothy Knapman, Guy Bass, Barry Hutchison and Georgia Pritchett. His first book series was Frostheart and Arkspire is his second foray into fiction. The children were delighted to take part in a draw-a-long with Jamie, where they drew one of the characters from Arkspire, Cinder!
Paula Harrison
In the afternoon of Wednesday 25th September, KS1 were visited by Paula Harrison, author of the Kitty's Moonlight adventure series. The children loved learning about Paula's love of cats and how it inspired her to write her series. She has many other book series too, so do look out for them! The children helped Paula create a new book character and were excited to see the finished outcome.
There were lots of very excited children collecting their signed book copies at the end of each event.

M G Leonard - KS2 Author Visit
On Wednesday 15 November 2023, we welcomed M G Leonard in to talk all about her wonderful, wintry new book 'The Ice Children'. The children were enthralled by her storytelling of why she became an author and why she wrote the style of books she did. The children were amazed to find out that at school, M G Leonard didn't love writing and got D-, however is now winning awards for her books, which include: Beetle Boy, 'The adventures on a train series' including The Highland Falcon Thief and The Twitchers series. At the end of the assembly, our children were invited to ask questions to find out more about her and enjoyed listening to the first chapter of her new book.
Some children then received their signed copies and have been spotted reading them around school during their free time.
