At Haydon Abbey School and Pre-School, we follow the Collins Big Cat reading scheme and the Little Wandle Phonics scheme. The Collins Big Cat reading books are ‘real books for real readers.’ The reading scheme is divided into coloured ‘book bands’ which are related to the level your child is reading. Class teachers will decide when a child is ready to move to the next stage of reading book.
We strongly recommend the websites below where you can access and enjoy hundred of free books to read - there are audio books as well, just click on the Sub Headings below to a world of free reading.
From this main page, click on class code and enter your child's class code, as provided by school, then select your child's name. Books can be accessed Mon-Fri from 7am to 4pm. For additional hours of reading, you will need to add an email address to the account. All the information about this site is on the flyer that was sent home in October 2020.
