Are you are interested in teacher training? Taking on the role of Learning Support Assistant is a good place to begin your career. At Haydon we can then support you with your teacher training whilst continuing to work here.  Many of our current teachers have taken this very successful route into teaching where you can train whilst still earning a salary.

Haydon Abbey is a very successful ‘good’ school in the centre of Aylesbury. We have a highly professional team of teaching and support staff with a commitment to staff development at all levels. We are very well resourced across all areas of the curriculum and are committed to providing the best possible education for our children. We have an excellent record of developing members of staff at all stages of their career and can offer you high quality and tailored professional development in order to pursue, and develop your role.

We are looking for enthusiastic, creative and innovative people to join our dynamic school where children are at the forefront of everything we do.  Experience of working with children in this age group is desirable but not essential. Candidates need to have a willingness to engage with the whole school community. A good level of English and Maths skills is essential.

Applicants may be required to support the learning in classes or to provide support for individual children. We are also looking for the right people to support children with special educational needs. The position will entail working with children from Reception to Year 6. The role will include:

  •    working alongside class teachers in a specific phase in the school
  •    supporting small groups of, and/or individual, children with their learning
  •    being responsible for the learning and achievement of children you work with
  •    supporting children in a pastoral role
  •    working within a team
  •    demonstrating high expectations for children
  •    withholding the school values at all times
  •    being highly professional

You will be joining an existing team of supportive Learning Support Assistants. Training and support will be an ongoing aspect of the role. Please specify in your application your preferred age range of children you would like to support.
