Vacancies for Kitchen Assistant/Midday Supervisor

Immediate Start (subject to references)

The Pay Scale is Bucks Pay Range 1 Point 5

Hourly Rate £8.91 - Actual Salary - £5,772

 

We have an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our friendly kitchen team, as a Kitchen Assistant/Midday Supervisor working at the main school and Pre-School.

 

Lunchtime at Haydon Abbey School and Pre-School is a very important part of the day when children have the opportunity to socialise with their peers. Our Kitchen Assistants/Midday Supervisors play a very important role in supporting children in order that they have a successful time whilst eating their lunch.

 

We need people who are enthusiastic, caring, self-motivated and supportive. The role will involve on a rota basis: -

  • Working either in preschool or the main school
  • preparing the dining room/preschool room for lunch
  • helping children to have an enjoyable experience
  • encourage pupils to have good table manners and supporting them to eat their lunch
  • serving school lunches
  • washing and drying up of trays
  • ensuring the hall/preschool room is clean and tidy for afternoon lessons
  • tidy and cleaning of food serving area and kitchen areas
  • ensuring first aid resources are replenished

 

No previous experience is necessary for either of these roles but it is essential that the successful candidate has a caring nature, is patient and has a flexible and positive approach to working with children.

 

The role will be three hours a day and dependent on rotas the hours will be between 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. With the possibility of further hours for the right candidate.

The key purpose of the role is to cover lessons across the school for teaching staff who are absent for a short amount of time or who are needed to work in other areas of the school.

When not covering lessons the Cover Supervisor will be based in a specific year group where they will support children with their learning.

 

  • provide quality teacher cover at short notice.
  • cover lessons for Subject and Phase leadership, and Management time.
  • provide quality LSA cover in the event of an absence or course. 
  • create a stimulating learning environment by teaching lessons planned and resourced by class teachers throughout the school.
  • follow the school’s policies to ensure consistency of teaching and behaviour management.
  • report to the class teacher after lessons so they are notified of progress of the lesson and any behavioural issues.
  • communicate effectively with the Senior Leadership Team
  • work effectively as a Learning Support Assistant, where needed, when not covering classes          

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • need to be extremely flexible need experience of working as a Learning Support Assistant
  • need to have significant experience of covering classes in a variety of subjects
  • be able to create good learning relationships with children across the school
  • have a passion for teaching and learning
  • have strong behaviour management strategies
  • a willingness to engage with the whole school community
  • have a good level   of English and Maths

Applicants may be required to support the learning in classes or to provide support for individual children. We are also looking for the right people to support children with special educational needs. The position will entail working with children from Year 1 to Year 6. Experience of working with children in this age group is desirable but not essential. Candidates need to have a willingness to engage with the whole school community. A good level of English and Maths skills is essential.

The role will include:

 

  • working alongside class teachers in a specific phase in the school   
  • supporting small groups of, and/or individual, children with their learning
  • being responsible for the learning and achievement of children you work with
  • supporting children in a pastoral role
  • working within a team
  • demonstrating high expectations for children
  • withholding the school values at all times
  • being highly professional

 

You will be joining an existing team of supportive Learning Support Assistants. Training and support will be an ongoing aspect of the role. Please specify in your application your preferred age range of children you would like to support.

Learning Support Assistant -  Pre-School Site

As a result of the growing number of children joining our setting we are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join our friendly Pre-School. Our Pre-School is sited in purpose-built premises adjacent to the school. It is extremely well resourced and provides excellent provision for our youngest children as well as a warm and inviting working environment.

 

Previous experience of working with children in a Pre-School is not necessary but would be desirable.  Candidates need to be able to work with our youngest children and have a willingness to engage with the whole school community. A good level of English and Maths skills is essential. Ideally applicants would hold a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification; however the right person would be considered for the role without this.  

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • have responsibility for a key group of children
  • support small groups of children with their learning
  • work within a team
  • prepare resources
  • support children in a pastoral role
  • develop positive relationships with parents
  • share good practice with Early Years colleagues
  • maintain the ethos and high expectations of the school
  • implement all aspects of the EYFS curriculum. 

 

Training and support will be an ongoing aspect of the role.
