Spring Term - KS1 (Years 1 & 2)
Over the Spring term KS1 have completed the topic ‘British Legends and Monsters.’ The children explored the geography based on the United Kingdom and Great Britain. They learnt about the countries that make up Great Britain, their capital cities and famous legends that are linked to these countries. The children learnt about The Loch Ness Monster, Robin Hood, King Arthur and The Giant’s Causeway.
In the second half of the Spring term we learnt about historical heroes and villains in our new topic ‘Heroes or Villains’. The children all enjoyed visiting Claydon House to learn more about the hero Florence Nightingale. We also had a different kind of hero in to visit when the Service Dogs came to see us. Throughout our topic, the children have learnt about significant people in history and within their living memory. The children have loved finding out about Florence Nightingale, Dick Turpin, Blackbeard, Olympians or Paralympians and Service Dogs.
KS1 were excited to share their learning with their parents in our class assemblies. Thank you to all the parents who came to watch. We were very proud of all the children’s contributions to the assemblies.
Please remember that our Home Links is updated on the school website weekly. You can find information about what your child will be doing that week, as well as some activities to support your child’s learning at home.
